This is a picture of the Boston Colonists disguised as Indians throwing tea into the harbor. They did not want to pay taxes so as a result this is the action they took. This made the british parliament angry and forced them to pass the intolerable acts which brought America and British even closer to war.

Along with the site I gave that posted 3 major events that caused the war this site give a basic overview of why and how the war was started along with links of some of the major events. Although many events occurred that led to the American Revolution the background of all this was that Americans were also entitled to democratic rights. This site also has links to each of the major events that led to the American Revolution.

The main reason that the American Revolution was started besides the want of American Independence was because of three ideas.
The first big reason is the Boston Massacre which resulted in 5 civilian deaths by British troops. The second event that occurred was boycotting. The 13 colonies cut off trade from coming in and out of the 13 colonies which greatly affected Britain and the original 13 colonies. This was a big problem for the British because the 13 colonies were a major part of trading for the British.
The final event that played a big part in the start of the American Revolution was the Boston Tea Party. The colonists dumped tea into the Boston harbor which cost the British a lot of money and made them very mad. In the end these events all contributed to the start of the American Revolution.
